Baby Clothes Lines

Posted: March 30, 2012 in Papertrey Ink

Hello again.

I’m back again with another couple of iPhone cards lol!!

When I first saw this set from Papertrey Ink I fell in love with it immediately.  I thought the images were so cute!  What makes it even easier is that there are coordinating dies, which means all those tiny little pieces of scrap paper that you have been hoarding saving for a special occasion, finally come in handy!

Exploding 18th Box

Posted: March 29, 2012 in Cards

Hello there
I have finally gotten around to taking some photos of recent projects.  I always forget to take photos, so I have nothing for my poor blog, which is in need of some TLC of late.

I was asked to do a card for a girl who was turning 18 from a ‘young man’ if you get my drift..

So this is what I came up with.  I used my new Silhouette Cameo to cut out the box layers and lid.  I rounded the corners using a corner rounder (don’t have a chomp), and used my square Nestabilities to cut the right size squares for the different layers..

For the lid I cut out lots of layers of coloured tissue paper using my round circle Nestabilities, and held it altogether with a heart shaped brad through the lid (which you can’t see here tho..)

The number 18 was cut out using Papertrey Ink coasters and their By the Numbers Dies.  When I gave it to the young man to give to his young lady, he was thrilled with the effort that went into it.

I hope you liked it.

Copic first attempt.

I have a collection of cards that I did quite a while back now. I ooh-ed and aah-ed at the Year of Flowers collection of stamps from Papertrey Ink for the whole of last year and couldn’t decide which one to buy. I eventually opted for the Mum’s collection above.  Mostly because I am new to Copic’s (this set was the first thing I coloured using them!) and I didn’t how how easy or hard they would be to use..  Whilst I think I am getting the hang of them now, I didn’t achieve the results I would have liked with them (not that that’s stopped me buying even more mind you!) and I found the image really time consuming to colour in.  Suffice to say that once I had finished these three, I had had enough of colouring using Copics for the remainder of the week!  My mum liked them bless her, but she’s not very critical of my work, unlike my DD who would tell me what needs improving etc.  So there you have it my first attempt at Copics.

Enjoy the ride Birthday

Posted: March 27, 2012 in Cards, Papertrey Ink
Hello Bloggers.

How are you all today?

I have another iPhone card to show you today lol!  I used the Papertrey Ink Enjoy the Ride stamp set, which I stamped onto a Mat Stack #4 piece of Kraft card stock.  I coloured it using my Copics and I used the vintage touch tea dye duo chamomile ink around the edges of the mat to give it a little more definition and then raised it up on foam squares before I adhered it to my card front.  I used a double ended banner die to stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from the same set onto Kraft card stock, and put a little grosgrain ribbon doubled over, w

ith a little piece of chocolate coloured satin ribbon with a button stuck in the middle to finish it off.  I though this was a nice alternative to a bow for a man’s card, and will definitely use this again.

REALLY late Valentine’s!!

Posted: March 26, 2012 in Cards

Hello there.

Glad to see you here again..

I have a couple of cards that I created for Valentine’s this year, and I know that that ‘holiday’ is gone already, but I still thought they were nice enough cards to be given to the ‘one you love’ for an Anniversary or even a Birthday..

I used a file from the Silhouette Cameo online library to cut both the words ‘Amore’ and ‘love’ out of card.  Once I had assembled the card adding some cute heart ribbon trim along the bottom and a heart with a button in the middle, I have to be honest the felt a bit, well, pleh.  So I decided to trace the letters using my quickie glue pen and then add some glitter to it.  Much better!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop – March

Posted: March 25, 2012 in Cards, Papertrey Ink

Here is the photo that we are using this month to spark our inspiration..

The parts of the inspiration photo that inspired me were the yellow (obviously) and the stripes of the bags.

I liked the ribbon also, but as I am not very good at tying bows, I decided to ruffle it instead.  I also didnt have any aqua coloured ribbon in my stash, so used brown instead.  I hope this doesn’t get me thrown off the hop, it’s supposed to be a jumping off point for your inspiration anyway, right?  So that’s how this photo inspired me lol!

As you all know, I don’t have a DSLR camera, or even a point and shoot anymore (don’t you just love teenagers?…) but I digress..

So this photo along with all the other rubbish photos on my blog are taken with my iPhone.

This one was taken and then edited in Instagram to add some sort of hue.

It didn’t change it that much to be honest with you which is why I am still posting it.

The ribbon is from my stash and the sentiment was computer generated and then matted.

I hope you like it.

18th Scrapbook Day 19

Posted: March 24, 2012 in Papertrey Ink

Hello there!

Well if you made it this far, Kudos to you!  Thank you so much for joining me on this little journey!

The last page of my book was just kept very simple.  It’s not so much a layout, as it only has the vellum quote strip at the top, “Precious are all things that come from friends”..

I contacted all of my DD’s friends via Facebook (no mean feat, let me tell you!) and asked them to contribute something towards the book.  They then in turn sent me emails with their messages.  I copy and pasted them into a Word document (do you know how much slang these kids use??  I had to fight with my OCD self not to correct everything they had written, as I realise that this is ‘part’ of their language, and needs to be preserved for posterity really) and printed them off, and ‘bound’ them into a book.  I decorated the front of the book with some K&Co stickers, and another Library Card stamp inside the Library Pocket die from PTI.

I then slipped it into the back page, and finally closed the scrapbook album.

When I presented the album to my DD, and she saw all the messages from her friends, well she just burst out crying right there and then at the table.  This was the time that my DH thought it would be a good idea to get a photo of himself with DD, and so he has his arm around her with her crying her eyes out lol!!!  Makes me laugh just to think about it..
